Ms Makgotlho is currently, Chief Director: Market Access Support for SMMEs and Cooperatives (Domestic and International) as well as mainstreaming of Gender, Youth, Persons with Disabilities and Military Veterans. Her responsibilities include amongst others: identifying and facilitating market access in public, private and international markets. While in the dti, she was responsible for Gender and Women Economic Empowerment amongst others establishing and managing an Arts and Crafts Hub for women owned cooperatives in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She has worked in the broader community development and women economic empowerment area in various capacities. She has worked at all spheres of government e.g. National, Provincial and Local government/ Municipality level and in SOEs i.e. CSIR and Independent Development Trust (IDT). She was also : Commissioner of the Employment Equity Commission in the Department of Labour, Chairperson of the dti Employment Equity Committee, Board member of: Cooperatives Development Bank Agency, Local Government Sector Education and Training Agency (LGSETA), Isivande Women’s Fund (IWF). She is a member of: United Nation Economic Commission for Africa Expert Group on the Women’s Entrepreneurship Report (WER), Reference Group for Water Research Council Women Entrepreneurs in Water and UNWomen Reference group on Stimulating Equal Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs through Affirmative Procurement, and Supply Chain Policies. She has developed and presented papers at various conferences nationally and internationally. She is involved in many community and welfare organisations in her private capacity. Her qualifications include: BA in Sociology and Public Administration, Master’s Degree in Public Administration, a Certificate in Developmental Economics, a Management Advancement Programme (MAP) and many management and planning.
